R&D Motorsports Sets Land Speed Record!

This amazing new JIMCO is only the seventh Trophy Truck built of this new generation of lighter, stronger, faster chassis. “We are continuously trying to make a better Trophy Truck. We lightened up the chassis to make it faster and reduce drivetrain strain. We also wanted to make it handle better,” stated JIMCO founder Mike Julson.
Besides the amazing exterior finish work and Raptor styled body this truck features multiple Rigid Industries LED light bars and the AGM hydraulic jack system, making tire changes a breeze. The interior is well thought out as well with dual GPS screens, a custom shift indicator, Rigid Industries LED interior lights, adjustable seats, and a light bar adjustor within an arms reach.
JIMCO’s new Trophy Truck platform is a carefully measured evolution born out of the experience of thousands of miles of racing and thousands of hours of fabrication.
JIMCO rebuilt the truck in less than four weeks and Jay and Charles raced it in last year’s Baja 1000. After a smooth start, Charles Dorrance got introduced to the massive holes at the end of Puertecitos Road where he crashed the truck going end-over-end twice at eighty miles per hour. The truck was pieced back together and it finished the 2012 Baja 1000. This beautifully hand crafted JIMCO Trophy Truck has become affectionately know as “The War Machine” due to the harshness of its first test. While testing in Plaster City the truck was crashed at over a hundred miles an hour, flipping end-over-end seven times pretty much totaling the truck. Yet both the driver and passenger walked away unscathed, a testament to the safety built into these vehicles.

(From Race Dezert...'The gauntlet has been thrown down. On October 22nd on the Laguna Salada dry lake bed just south of Mexicali, the record for the world fastest trophy truck was set. In the R&D Motorsports #26 Trophy Truck; AKA “The War Machine”, Jay Reichert reached 136 miles per hour, recording the official land speed record in a race ready trophy truck (No specific speed modifications done). This was merely a jab in what we hope to be outright warfare to see who has the fastest vehicle in off-road.If you think you can go faster, all you need to do is to prove it. Make sure you film it with multiple measurements and witnesses.) Let the battle begin.'- See more at:Method Race Wheels

Extras: The new Jimco Truck was built with one thing in mind, weight. Mike Julson felt if the could keep the weight down the truck would be quicker and more agile than the current Trophy Trucks. Another added benefit of a lighter weight truck would be the added reliability reducing the load put through the drive-train, which the end result would help decrease the cost of campaigning a Trophy Truck.

Trophy Truck

Trophy Trucks are the fastest class of off-road racing vehicles designed and built to resemble modern pickup trucks. Although any truck that meets the safety standards can race the trophy truck class, they, for the most part, feature long travel suspensions and high power engines. They are intended for desert racing, and are not street legal.

Truck design

They are most often 2-wheel drive, and most feature a 4130 chromoly tube-frame chassis covered by a fiberglass or other composite body. Engines are required to be naturally aspirated, and are typically V8s generating in excess of 700-850 hp. Suspension travel can exceed 30 inches (760 mm) depending on chassis design. Most Trophy trucks use independent A-arm suspensions up front. In the rear, most trucks use a 3 or 4-link setup with a solid axle, while some use various types of independent suspension. Suspension and damping duties are handled by 1 or 2 shock absorbers per wheel; usually consisting of one coil-over and one by-passshock.
